Has it gone???

The snow that is!

Yesterday was the first day since before christmas that I was confident enough to go out on my own!! With all the ice and snow I just haven't wanted to take the risk offalling over. It is really unusual for me as normally I am quite independant I guess I don't just have myself to worry about now and is all part of becoming a Mum.

Russ was one of 1000's stuck on telegraph hill on tuesday night. It took him 6 hours to complete the 25 min journey home from work! I was really please to see him when he finally got home safe and well. Lets hope that some more brighter spring weather is just around the corner I am looking forward to seeing the daffodil's sunny colours appearing soon and the only white blankets being made of snowdrops!!!!!

On that note I am off to make some home made soup for lunch Mmmmmm.

Just couldn't resist...

.... showing you this pic of my baby boy (well old man really but he'll always be my baby;)) He is very happy on the sofa cuddling Russ' blanket - especially when it is cold and white everywhere!!!!!

Well perhaps not the start we wanted...

... but I guess the one we expected :( On monday Russ' return to work started with a meeting advising him the company would be closing. Something we had expected after the last year but you always hope deep down it won't happen - or not for a little while longer.

We have to think of this as a positive (OK there are lots of negatives we have to get through but I'm trying not to focus on these!!!! :s) as Russ has not been happy for a long while and this could lead to him working in a job he enjoys more (lets face it very few really adore their jobs these days!) and he will come home happier each evening. Of course coming home to our little bundle when she arrives will always end the day well (hopefully she will be good or he could decided to work away from home!!!)

Today I only have a pic of what Ben thinks about the temperatures and not having the heating on 24/7!! Can you tell he is not impressed at all!!

Yesterday Devon was hit with the snow the rest of the country has been having so Russ was at home. He used the time to build the wardrobe which I now need to start filling! I snuggled in bed giving him verbal support as I wasn't feeling well enough to tackle flat pack! I also didn't get any pics but some of the trees around us looked very pretty. Lots of sun today but it is still cold so it isn't melting very quickly.

Off to start putting stuff in the wardrobe and to make something with Mince for tea!

Operation Prepare for the Baby Starts

Well preparations have started here to make room for the baby to arrive in around 11 weeks time! Just before christmas we ordered a chest of drawers and wardrobe so we can clear our dressing room attached to our bedroom. Russ put the chest of drawers together yesterday so I can start filling them up now. We shall get the Wardrobe up next weekend and then we can clear the room and start decorating. The cot arrives mid feb (hopefully!!) and we want to put it up so Ben can get used to all the new and moved furniture before bump arrives. Hopefully it will be less unsettling for him.

While Russ was putting it together I was resting and watching parts of the ski jumping four hill tournament. They are Innsbruck for the third hill and the Austrian spectators are going mad! The majority of their jumpers are in the top 10. There is something addictive about watching these jumpers - they must all be mad but the best make it look so easy. Saying that you would never get me doing it!! I am quite happy just watching!!

Welcome to 2010

Happy New Year to you all! I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable start to 2010.

Thought I would post this rare picture of Ben smiling (rather than him giving me the usual "oh Mummy not more pictures!" look) to welcome in the new year.

As predicted we were in bed and asleep by 10 last night and didn't know anything until Ben decided he needed to go outside at 3.30 (he is definitely good practice for disturbed nights!!!) and then nothing until 9 this morning - I think I was tired lol. Mind you it may have something to do with spending 5 hours at the hospital with Mum yesterday for a review of her wrist and then the unexpected pre-med for her op when she gets back from Spain- yes she has to have another op on her wrist but hopefully it will prevent future problems.

Today Russ cooked a roast and Mum and Dad came around to enjoy it with us. They had been to friends for a NYE party and not got to bed until 2.30 so they were rather tired so it was a short and sober visit for them today.

For christmas I had the SU flight of the butterfly stamp set and matching punch from Mum and Dad and so used it to make some thank you cards on Boxing Day. It is the first cards I have made other than my christmas cards since the summer. Falling pregnant seemed to zap my crafting mojo but I think it could be on its way back :)

Finally I promised I would post a pick of whatever tree we ended up with. Luckily the treetastrophe ended happily and our new 7ft slim tree looked lovely and we will miss it when it comes down next week. You can't see the lights really in the picture but we have some static white lights and then some tinkling coloured lights. All the ornaments are in a red, gold and glass theme except for the silver bells. The glittery star on top was a bargin from argos which we adapted to ensure it stood upright. I don't think the picture really does it justice but I am not sure they do on any tree.

Well this is the end of my first post of 2010. I hope to be able to post regularly on here about baking, crafting and obviously the bump which is what I think I will be spending my time doing.
